Cohron & Newland Family Our family is growing.....We had a total of 30 people all related in one way or another over for Thanksgiving. I think I am doing something wrong because I read other's Thanksgiving plans and they are all visiting their family members and not having to cook.  How in the world do you get away with that????  I would love to be invited to someone's home and not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, and entertaining! Melchor Family  We tried to color coordinate and I forgot to change my father in laws shirt to the red sweater I had for him.  And then I forgot to tell my mom and was too embarrassed to tell her I excluded her by accident.  She didn't bring it up and hope no one rats me out. 1/4 goofiness runs in our family The new members to our family. My niece Alisha's boyfriend and his parents.  It was Marceline's first Thanksgiving. Emilio's hotty boyfriend join us too! Marceline with John John t...

Giving Thanks

Many have posted about what Thanksgiving means to them, in all honesty this year has turned out to be one of the most profound Thanksgivings yet to date for me and my family.  Without saying too much we have been in a state of crisis for the past two months. But at the same time, we are blessed with health, family, friends, support and so many other pillars of strength that our "crisis" at times seems frivolous.  Please don't ask. Tomorrow my home will be filled with my family and their extended family.  My brother in law will be bringing his fiancee and soon to be step daughter.  My niece will be bringing her first born to her first Thanksgiving and our parents will be with us.  What more can we ask for?  A very joyous occasion indeed. I have to have faith more now than ever.  There are lessons to be learned during this time and I just hope that we as a family will rise to the challenge.  Love may not be enough, but I hope that our fait...

A New Friend Comes to Visit

The end of the Thanksgiving holidays are at hand.  It was full of birthdays, family, and friends.  Shelby had a friend from boarding stay with us this week.  It's wonderful to see Shelby making such wonderful friends.  Malaika's family lives in Calgary and they celebrate  Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October. Shelby drove down on Friday with her and it has been a fun filled week. Saturday: Malaika helped Shelby with her Gold Award Ceremony at the house.  She participated in the ceremony and was there to see Shelby get pinned. Afterwards the girls met up with some of Shelby's girl scout friends and went to the Steam Boat Drive In to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn, part 2. On Sunday, we went to the Texans game at Reliant Stadium.  We had the best time except for a really obnoxious twenty-something blonde sitting next to the girls.  We just laughed it off and enjoyed the exciting game.  We had excellent seats and saw everythin...

Happy Thanksgiving Ya'll!

Had the best Thanksgiving Day yesterday.  Shelby was chosen to participate in the KHOU Thanksgiving Parade downtown. She rode in the Girl Scouts Gold Award float.  Turned out that a friend's sister was also on the float, so she hung out with her the entire time. She also met some celebrities while there and had a fantastic time.  I love when things work out even though we had to be there at 7:00 am and the parade didn't start until 9:00 am Jennifer and Shelby on the Girl Scout Gold Award Float. They wanted the top tier of the float which they kindly requested and got. The Grand Marshall of the Parade was Debrah Duncan.  The friendlies person I have ever met.  She can start a conversation on a dime!  She was on the float behind Shelby's. While we were driving in, I was joking with her that I wanted a picture of Santa and her this year.  I said I don't care who you approach as long as they have a beard and a red suit.  Just take th...
