Redo on the Guest Room

I have started to re-do the guest bedroom.  I still need to reupholster the headboard and get a new bedskirt.  But at least you can get an idea of what I am going for here.



 I found this great antique bookcase circa 1920's in Tomball for a really good deal. The minute I saw it I knew it would be perfect for this room.

I have had these two ottomans for years and decided to reupholster them with fabric I have and just touched up the paint on them.  I love how they turned out.

Kitchen Desk Make Over

This is my desk in my kitchen.  What you don't see is the kitchen table behind it that is inundated with papers, binders, bills, and files.  We live in a house that has plenty of living space yet for some reason, we spend the majority of our time in the kitchen/family room.   I spent the last couple of days organizing and thinking how best to use this space and the remainder of the 4000 sq ft. in my home.  This is what I have done...... Planning on adding something on the top *kid art* possibly from the craft room I removed all my binders of my organizations that I am involved with, that freed up an entire shelf.  I then organized my cook books, which believe it or not, I actually use.  I will begin using my craft room upstairs as my project room for girl scouts and national charity league.  I even have a tv being moved their so that I can actually work while catching up on shows or just having an old movie on for comfort while I...

HockaDONE!

August 2011, first day at boarding school.  She was so excited to start her new adventure.  I can't believe we let her do this.  It was so hard on us, to not see her everyday, be at her school for every little celebration or event.  But here we are three years later and we did it!  We ALL did it!! As they say at Hockaday we are HOCKADONE!!! Shelby wore the traditional white dress that all the Hockaday Seniors wear for graduation.  The dress is voted on by all seniors and a fashion show with models of all sizes showcasing the dress. In the years past the seniors would wear white hats with flowers and carry a flower basket.  However being the centennial year the girls reverted to the original hats of pastel colors.  Shelby chose yellow, my favorite color on her. The ceremony was outside and very humid....look at me glisten and let's not mention my hair.  uhg! Hockaday has century old traditions that are truly southern....

Wine Country Part 2

Since our trip to the wine country was postponed due to John's work schedule it gave me more time to plan for this trip.  In order not to forget what I booked and keep track of our dinner reservations I made a spreadsheet.  I still goofed and double booked a wine tasting and an olive oil tour.  Guess which one we ended up missing. On Tuesday we did "beginners" bike tour with two stops at local wineries.  One of them was the Buena Vista Winery.  One of my favorites this trip.  It could have been the 5-mile bike ride and that last push up that hill that made the wine taste so good.    Rick was our guide on this tour and was just wonderful.  Patient, knowledgeable, and a sweetheart.
